Things to Do on July 4th on Anna Maria Island
Here is our list of the Top Things to Do on July 4th on Anna Maria Island, Florida. July 4th Festivities are planned across the U.S. like fireworks, parades, get togethers and more. It got us thinking about what are some things you can do to celebrate at the beach? We've got you covered whether you are on Anna Maria Island, Florida or in a seaside locale elsewhere in the country.
1. Catch the Fireworks Festivities!
Whether you are near or fair most towns host a fireworks show. Check out your local newspaper for details in your town.
We are happy to announce that Fireworks will proceed at The Sandbar Restaurant in Anna Maria on July 4th at 9:00 pm.
Buy a VIP Package in advance which include delicious food prepared by the restaurant, open bar, party favors, valet parking and a private area to view the fireworks. Tickets are $140 for adults and $50 for kids. Contact The Sandbar Restaurant for tickets at (941) 778-8709 or pmckee@chilesgroup.com.
Bring a chair or beach towel to claim your spot on the beach. Remember it is turtle nesting season, so please ensure you pack up all garbage and beach items carefully upon departure. Better yet watch the fireworks by boat!
Note: Fireworks are weather permitting.
2. Decorate your Golf Cart or Bike and BE PART OF THE PARADE!
We love renting a golf carts, you can book one directly online on our website under our Things to Do page. It's the best way to slow down and take in that salt air and Beach Life. If you don't have a golf cart, grab a bicycle and decorate that instead. What could be more fun than heading out to the local Dollar Store with the kids, grabbing some Indenpendence Day decorations, and become part of the fesitivites! Just be sure to start with the parade down at Coquina Beach. Not sure where that is? Take a look at our handy Insider's Beach Guide.
3. Pack a Picnic and Head to the Beach
Anna Maria Island is Old Florida at it's absolute best and what better way to celebrate than by keeping it real and low key. Pack an inexpensive Picnic Feast and head to one of the finest beaches in America. There are plenty of picnic tables at Coquina Beach on the southern end of the island and more at Bayfront Park on the north end of the island.
4. Play some Good Old Fashioned Game at the Beach
Don't forget to play good old fashioned games like the watermelon eating contest, bocce ball, guessing how many jelly beans are in a jar, hula hoop contest, relay race, pie eating contest, bean bag toss, sack races, three legged races, sandcastle contests and more...
5. Create Great Memories with Patriotic Photos
Get the family together with sparklers and spell out July 4th when night time hits. It may take a few tries for the whole gang to figure out how to spell backwards, but that will provide tons of laughter getting there. Here's a great article from DIY Photographer, to help you capture the moment like a Pro.
6. Seize the moment and Get Out on the Water
Whether you love kayaking, paddle boarding, surfing or boating, get active and head out to enjoy the best waterways of the Gulf Coast of Florida. Who knows maybe you will see a friend or two out there! Book a kayak or paddle board here.
7. Get some Patriotic Tattoo's
We're not suggesting you go out and get permanent tattoo's, you can even make yourself some temporary July 4th tattoos. Check out this article from Simply Kelly Designs to DIY.

9. Head out to the local Parade!
A July 4th 2017 Celebration goes hand in hand with an Old Fashioned Parade. On our little island, we celebrate with golf carts, bikes, boats and PIRATES!!!
The AMI Privateers sponsor the parade on Anna Maria Island and it is open to all. It's a long parade so it is non-walking. Head out to catch a glimpse of a Patriotic Pirate!
