Beaches: Most vacationers are excited to enjoy the sugar white sands and warm tropical waters of the Florida Gulf. At Anna Maria Island Home Rentals you are steps away from all that the Gulf has to offer - choose a quiet stretch or head towards the public beach where you can enjoy picnic tables, playgrounds, and showers located on the 7-mile long beach. Parasailing is a unique way to float high above the island and view all it has to offer. Boat, jet ski, kayak, paddle and surfboard rentals are close by if you are a more active type. Both fishing piers (Rod & Reel Pier & Anna Maria City Pier) have delicious restaurants to satisfy your hunger in case your catch of the day gets away! Click to read more details in our BEACH GUIDE.
Enjoy cold pink lemonade and a blackened grouper sandwich at The Sandbar - right on the beach - a Sirenia Favorite!
Fishing: There are many options to satisfy the anglers attracted to this world class fishing site. Try your luck at the piers or charter a boat and enjoy some deep sea fishing. The local captains know the best spots to find an abundance of fish. There are no licenses required if escorted by one of Anna Maria Island's licensed fishing guides. Snook, trout, redfish, snapper and tarpon are the local catch. There is also saltwater fishing right on the canal at Sirenia Beach House, Sirenia Cove and Sirenia By The Sea. The kids will love it! Scuba Diving & Snorkeling: Snorkelers and divers can explore right from the beaches. There are local dive sites located offshore at Bradenton Beach where you can explore the S.S. Regina just 12 - 20 feet down. This steel tanker was loaded with molasses when it sank in a tropical storm. Another favorite snorkel site is right off of Egmont Key where natural reefs have formed from previous ruins. Click here to rent yourself some snorkel gear.
Wildlife: The Sarasota Bay is home to the longest monitored family of dolphins by the MOTE Marine Laboratory. Dolphin sightings are common in and around the Intercoastal and Gulf waterways. Manatees are another wonderful creature that call Anna Maria Island home. This endangered species is found lounging close to vegetation in the calm waterways. Anna Maria is also known for its sea turtle nesting grounds. The sea turtles have found a haven on Anna Maria every May thru October and have been monitored since the island has been inhabited.
