Tahini Beach Cafe ~ Anna Maria Island
We absolutely love Mediterranean food. We've traveled to Turkey, Greece, Malta, and have fallen in love with this cuisine. So fresh and healthy but most of all delicious. If you haven't gotten out of your comfort zone yet this is the friendly place to try it. The chef is originally from Kuwait which has a slightly different take on the Turkish and Syrian food we are used to but the spices are even more delish.
Our favourite items on the menu are the shawarma chicken and beef but we actually ask the chef to put the meat on a fatoush salad instead of in a pita. The tahini beach platter with multiple dips for your pita are homemade and ymmy! The fatoush salad is lemony, crisp and tangy just the way I like it with lots of sumac. The watermelon salad is so refreshing too.
The interior of the cafe is a bit jarring with it's leftover red walls from a previous tenant. I think if the cafe improved the interior design to more traditional blue and white Mediterranean colours it would improve the experience. The friendly family staff is always there to help novices order if needed. There is interior cool seating and limited seating on the front terrace overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.

It's tough to find parking. Try looking for spots on Bridge Street and if that fails tip the parking attendant at the Bridgewalk Inn for short stay in their parking lot.
